Newspapers and Magazines

Newspapers and magazines are highly localized. Each Spanish speaking country has its own newspapers and, within the country, different areas are focused on different topics. It would be the same if we were to read a guide on the most important papers written in English.

Because Spanish is not only spoken in Spain, but also in most of South America, this list serves as a guide to the most important and widely-read publications written in Spanish in the whole world.

Each country has its own language variety, history, typical expressions, topics of interests, and folklore. Therefore, this guide will present a universal but extremely distinctive way of perceiving the world depending on the country where the paper or magazine is published.

  El País is one of the most prestigious Spanish newspapers. Political information, both national, and international, is profoundly considered. You can also find articles on economy, sports, culture and social events.

  20 Minutos is a free newspaper widely-read in all Spain. Each province publishes its own version to make it more localized. It deals with general information in a concise and plain way.

Argentina

Spain

  Marca is devoted to soccer, specially the Spanish premier league. However, they also mention other sports. It favors the Spanish soccer club Real Madrid.

Argentina

  Olé is considered a high-quality newspaper both for its articles and its pictures. It is also dedicated to soccer; however, it does not overlook other sports.

Mexico
